How Shelf Ventures handles business information

Who we are
Shelf Ventures is a trading name of Josh McLachlan, a sole trader. Shelf Ventures provides recruitment intelligence and recruitment websites and is run by Josh McLachlan. Business address: 22 Portland Square, Bristol, BS2 8RZ. Contact: josh@shelfventures.co.uk.
What information we may use
Business contact information about companies and the people who work for them in a business capacity: company name, registered details, business website, business email address, business phone number, job title and name where these are published for business contact.
Where it comes from
- Public registers, principally Companies House.
- Companies' own public websites and published contact pages.
- Public industry directories, event exhibitor and sponsor lists, and similar published sources.
- Information you send us directly.
We do not buy marketing lists and we do not collect information from social networks.
Why we may contact a business
Shelf Ventures may carry out limited, individually targeted business-to-business outreach to companies that appear relevant to our services, for example suppliers to recruitment agencies, or recruitment agencies that have recently been formed. Each message is written and sent individually, identifies Shelf Ventures clearly, and includes a simple way to opt out. We do not send bulk or automated marketing.
We rely on legitimate interests as the basis for this: making relevant business services known to businesses that may benefit from them, in a way that is proportionate and easy to decline.
Recruitment intelligence data
Our recruitment intelligence work uses information about companies from public sources. Where a company record includes the names of directors, that information comes from the public register at Companies House and is used only to describe the company, not to profile or contact individuals in a personal capacity.
How long we keep prospect information
Information about a business we have contacted or may contact is kept for up to 12 months from the last contact, then deleted or anonymised, unless a business relationship has started. If you ask us not to contact you, we keep the minimum needed to honour that request.
How to ask not to be contacted
Reply to any message, or email josh@shelfventures.co.uk, and we will remove you promptly and confirm.
Your rights
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to its use. Email the address above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Cookies, fonts and analytics
This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking pixels, and loads no third-party fonts or scripts. Pages are served from our hosting provider, which records standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability.
